Triassic Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs first appeared in the late Triassic period around 240 million years back but became dominant only in the following Jurassic period. The early dinosaurs were small bipedal animals that might have darted across the variable landscape of the earth.

Not long after emergence, they may have diverged into two main groups – the Saurischia (that includes the sauropods) and the Ornithoscelida (that includes the ornithischians and theropods). By the end of the Triassic era, some of these dinosaurs became impressive in size. For example, Riojasaurus and Lessemsaurus had reached more than 9 m in length.

The below list has all the dinosaurs of the Triassic period classified on the basis of the continents that they lived in.
