Most of the dinosaurs weren’t carnivorous by nature. Over 180 of these so-called ‘terrible lizards’ were gentle plant eaters. These include long-necked sauropods, which used their necks to reach leaves in high-up places, beaked dinosaurs who would dig up and tear roots, and iguanodons who used the claws on their thumbs to tear up plants to feed on easily.
Here is a list of dinosaurs known for primarily eating plants.
The biggest herbivorous dinosaur is the Argentinosaurus huinculensis, which was 120 feet from head to tail and weighed about 100 tons.
The smallest plant-eating dinosaur is Albertadromeus syntarsus, about 5 feet from head to tail and weighs about 30 lbs.
